Activities

Life at Lansdowne need not be just about studying and there is a full programme of events and extra-curricular activities throughout the year.

Activities Week

Every academic year ends joyously in June with the annual Activities Week. As a reward for the students’ hard work throughout the year and the examination period, they are treated to a week of fun and frolics! Paintballing at Homewood Paintball in Effingham, Surrey and a trip to Thorpe Park prove to be extremely popular. The staff versus students Rounders and Cricket matches are hotly contested with both sides desperate to beat the other! The last day of the Lansdowne year is celebrated with a Talent Show in our Hall, followed by a staff and student barbecue in the Lansdowne garden.

Lansdowne Activity Programme

The Lansdowne Activity Programme is an integral part of the Lower Sixth and GCSE timetable. It takes place on a Friday afternoon in the first term of the academic year. These excursions augment and enhance subject tuition, raising students’ cultural and scientific awareness as well as their understanding of the city and country in which they study. Typical destinations for these Friday afternoon outings might include the National Gallery, the Museum of London, the Natural History Museum, the Tate Modern, the Imperial War Museum, the Tower of London, the Science Museum and The Globe Theatre. These visits will occasionally be interspersed with more frivolous excursions, such as ten-pin bowling, ice-skating or a visit to the BBC building.

...if it hadn't been for Lansdowne I wouldn't have been able to take my A Levels. My self-confidence rocketed as the teachers gave me the individual attention I needed...
