BMAT Course 2011

As you will know BMAT (BioMedical Admissions Test) is required by some universities for Medicine (Oxford & Cambridge, Imperial College and University College London), Veterinary Science (Cambridge, Bristol and Royal Veterinary School) and now Biomedical Sciences (Imperial College). This test is subject-specific and requires good knowledge of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. BMAT also tests Communication Skills.

Although the idea was for BMAT to be at GCSE level, experience has shown that with the gap between GCSE and A Levels widening, some knowledge beyond GCSE level is necessary in all subjects. In particular, not everyone studies Mathematics and Physics to AS level. For more information please have a look at the BMAT website.

Lansdowne College, which is an Examination Centre for BMAT, runs an intensive course over 1.5 days during the first weekend of the Autumn Term Half Term holiday. The course is exam-based and highly recommended for those seeking high scores in the BMAT exam on 2nd November 2011.

The Lansdowne Programme:

  • Saturday 22nd October: Full Day studying Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. The emphasis will be placed on Mathematics and Physics as most students are expected to be studying Biology and Chemistry to at least AS level.
  • Sunday 23rd October: Communication Skills, Critical-Thinking and Essay Writing.

All students are expected to sit a Mock Paper at the end of the course on Sunday. The marked paper and a full report will be sent to the individual student.

The cost of the course is £300 (which includes the BMAT exam fee). Should a candidate only wish to carry out the exam at Lansdowne the cost will be £170. If you would like to attend the BMAT Course at Lansdowne please fill out the below forms and return them to Georgina Prichard (Lansdowne College, 40-44 Bark Place, London, W2 4AT)
