Senior Maths Challenge Success 2016

Students at Lansdowne College once again received another fantastic set of results in this year’s UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. 27 out of the 39 students who entered were awarded certificates, of which 5 were gold, 5 silver and 17 bronze. Over 82,000 pupils from across the UK returned scripts for the Senior Maths Challenge with the top 10% receiving a gold certificate, the next 20% silver and the next 30% bronze. Students volunteer for Mitzvah Day

Five students gave their time last weekend to volunteer as part of Mitzvah Day. What is Mitzvah day? ‘Mitzvah’ roughly translated from Hebrew means ‘good deed’ and is an international Jewish led day of social action. This Sunday 27th November, our students will be joining forces with the local synagogue to take part in Mitzvah Day: a Jewish led day of social action. Lansdowne students take part in the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls

Three of our students recently took part in the Mathematical Olympiad for Girls. The MOG is a competition aimed at girls in Year 11 and above, during which students sit a test lasting two and a half hours. The UK Mathematics Trust, who runs the competition, hopes to inspire as many girls as possible to get involved in advanced mathematical problem solving. Lansdowne College University Fair

Last week, Lansdowne hosted its second ever mini university fair. Representatives from universities across the UK visited the college to answer our students’ most pressing questions and give them expert tips on the UCAS process, appropriate courses and information about the universities themselves. Lansdowne’s Halloween Party and Talent Show

Before half term we held our annual Halloween party and talent show where we raised an amazing £310 for Richard House Children’s Hospice. The evening kicked off with the talent show where there were some truly impressive performances, including Liz Kim’s rendition of Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata’, and Harriet Parris’ performance of Adele’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’.  The judges had a difficult time selecting the winners, but finally awarded 3rd place to Hayley Downing and Neve Hardy for their performance… Read More

A record number of Lansdowne students submit Oxbridge and medical school applications

With last week’s deadline for medical school and Oxbridge applications having just passed, we couldn’t be prouder of our final year cohort.
