The Lansdowne GCSE Programme prospers through the carefully considered combination of affording the students a more responsible and mature approach to their studies, whilst making the learning environment a stimulating, exciting and motivating one. Whilst we maintain the most rigorous academic standards, we can be more relaxed and flexible in our approach: students at Lansdowne are treated as young adults and this transferral of responsibility reaps many dividends in both educational development and personal growth.

Unlike most other Colleges, Lansdowne has an established and successful GCSE department. This GCSE Course at Lansdowne College succeeds through both allowing our students a more responsible and mature approach to their learning, whilst making their environment a stimulating and motivating one. Whilst we always ensure the most rigorous of academic standards, we can be more relaxed and flexible in our approach: students on the GCSE course at Lansdowne are treated as young adults and this bestowal of personal responsibility reaps many developmental rewards, both educationally as well as personally.

Students can study any combination of GCSE subjects, as well as gaining many ancillary benefits such as Learning to Learn programmes, revision techniques and organisational strategies. We also place great importance in examination technique, as we realise successful examinations require a combination of knowledge and application: GCSE students have examination practice and technique sessions to complement their subject studies. They are allocated a dedicated personal tutor who monitors their progress from the outset, ensuring that the students get the most they can during their time with us. Alongside traditional learning, GCSE students also enjoy sporting and social activities through the activities programme, which last year saw them visit the Tate Modern, the Science Museum and the Imperial War Museum amongst others.
