Founded in 1976, Lansdowne Independent Sixth Form College London is one of London's best known independent sixth form colleges, and now has a growing GCSE department. Situated in a quiet residential road, a minute's walk from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, our modern College building provides a light and spacious environment with excellent facilities for all students to succeed.

Lansdowne Independent Sixth Form College London is renowned for the warm, supportive and structured atmosphere provided by our staff and students together. With our clear guidelines of conduct based on mutual respect between staff and students, we find there is no place for many of the rules found in traditional schools. We believe that our students relish and respond to being treated as young adults. They thrive on a mixture of expert tuition, hard work and pastoral care and benefit thoroughly from an environment that, whilst maintaining academic rigour and discipline, provides a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A Level College

The friendly and caring community at our A Level College provides excellent teaching which allows our students of mixed ability to achieve their full potential. We recognise that this potential is different for each student and realistic targets are set accordingly. Students at our A Level College can choose from over forty subjects in any combination, allowing them to dictate their academic direction and engage in their personal learning journey. Students' progress along this is guided and monitored at every step, be it through one-to-one sessions with their Personal Tutor, weekly examination practice or through our thorough monthly reporting system, to ensure that their time with us is productive.

When students leave our A Level College, the tangible evidence of their success is excellent examination results and a place at their chosen university, but we are equally proud of the intangibles: being self-confident, self-reliant and prepared for the challenges of life.

GCSE Course

Unlike most other Colleges, Lansdowne has an established and successful GCSE department. This GCSE Course at Lansdowne College succeeds through both allowing our students a more responsible and mature approach to their learning, whilst making their environment a stimulating and motivating one. Whilst we always ensure the most rigorous of academic standards, we can be more relaxed and flexible in our approach: students on the GCSE course at Lansdowne are treated as young adults and this bestowal of personal responsibility reaps many developmental rewards, both educationally as well as personally.

Once again like A Level Courses, students can study any combination of GCSE subjects, as well as gaining many additional benefits such as Learning to Learn programmes and educational techniques and strategies. We also place great importance in examination technique and GCSE students have examination practice and technique sessions to complement their GCSE college subjects. Our Year 10 and 11 have their own dedicated Personal Tutor who oversees their development from the start, ensuring that the students maximise every opportunity they get during their time with us. It is not all work though for students on the GCSE course, our students also enjoy social and sporting activities through a separate programme.
