…we strongly believe in supporting worthwhile causes…
At Lansdowne, we strongly believe in supporting worthwhile causes and every year the Student Council chooses a ‘Charity of the Year’.
A cake sale during the Autumn Term, a sponsored silence for the Year 10 students and a raffle at the Summer Ball all helped to raise over £400 for the chosen charity which for this year was Macmillan Cancer Support.
Each November, the College hold a ‘dressing up day’ in aid of the excellent Children in Need. Both staff and students enter into the spirit of fun and charity and don outfits from the outrageous to the insane! Recent themes have included ‘My Dream Job’, ‘Pyjama Day’ and ‘My Favourite Celebrity’.
Last year we raised an amazing £735 for Children in Need. Every March, the college supports Comic Relief and Sports Relief by again organising a ‘dressing up day’ with either a comic or a sporting theme. In 2010 both staff and students came dressed as their favourite sporting heroes.
There was a Wii tournament held in the hall on a projector screen and over £300 was raised.
